Azergo is donating 258 CO2 sensors to Vourles, a town in the Lyon region where its headquarters are located, with the aim of improving the air quality for students and teachers at nearby schools.
CO2 (carbon dioxide) is a colorless, odorless gas produced by the human body during respiration. When its concentration in indoor air exceeds a certain level, it can cause a loss of concentration, headaches, or dizziness…
Installing CO2 sensors in classrooms helps improve students’ attention spans and learning abilities. Thanks to an educational display (green, yellow, orange, and red faces) and a customizable alarm, they can quickly tell when it’s time to ventilate the room.
Azergo provided two types of sensors: a large model that can be mounted on a wall and a smaller one that can be placed on a piece of furniture or a desk. The total value of this equipment donation is €26,119, excluding tax.
We are pleased that, through this donation, we can make a positive contribution to our community and help foster a healthier work environment for our children and for the local government employees who work every day on behalf of us and our loved ones.

- Have you ever heard of CO2 sensors?
Yes, during the COVID-19 crisis. Air quality was a major issue during that time, and the Rhône-Alpes region worked hard to address it.
Today, we are well aware of the importance of clean air for maintaining good health, and we also know that protecting the environment must be a priority. That is why, as part of the energy-efficiency retrofits of the town’s buildings, we are systematically installing CO2 sensors. These sensors allow us to monitor air quality and also to save energy—for example, by avoiding the need to open windows all the time.
- How did you respond to Azergo's offer to donate sensors?
Great! That was unexpected and wonderful. Given the size of the donation, it was clear that we would share it with the other municipalities in the region, in the spirit of solidarity that guides our daily interactions. Azergo’s generous gesture clearly demonstrates the strong bond that exists between economic stakeholders and local communities in a region.
- How will these CO2 sensors be distributed? Who will benefit from them?
The 258 sensors will be distributed among the cities in the CCVG* and COPAMO** regions. They will be installed primarily in preschools and elementary schools, but also in technical departments, a few offices, and libraries.
